January 2018 UPDATE!!

January 2, 2018

Thanks to our volunteers who collected food, presents, gift cards, wrapped presents, sorted food, and delivered everything for our annual Christmas offering. We were able to serve 11 families with 18 children and 13 homeless veterans. Each family received a turkey, along with at least 2 boxes of food, three presents for each kid and a gift card to Walmart for $113.48, for each kid they had. While we didn't reach our goal of 20 families this year we did make some good contacts and I believe we wont have a problem reaching our goal next year. Thank you to all that donated and helped.

We continue to help the vet that was about to loose his house to foreclosure, his other big need has been food which we have been helping with and have signed him up with a local food pantry. We have made contact with a homeless veteran in Kansas as well. We are trying to find him help locally but if we are unsuccessful we will go out there next week to bring him back to stay at the Warrior House. We also have a local vet staying with us now that has been here since the week after Christmas. We expect he will be with us for another couple of weeks. Please keep him in your prayers, he has been sober for four months now and is working on getting his life back on track. We are helping him get what he needs to be successful and he is doing good.

Warrior House is expanding it's events this year. We will have a number of events all over the state this year and have just posted our first four for this year. We currently have a pheasant hunt in February and three turkey hunts in the first week of May lined up. Their will be 100 opportunities for veterans to attend an event through Warrior House his year. We look forward to serving more this year!

Interested in finding out how you can help us make that happen this year? Attend our monthly meeting January 28th at noon, at the Warrior House. We will have pizza and wings if your interested. As always if you know a veteran in need contact our Director of Operations Ed Spence at 716-560-0697. Hope everyone stays warm!
