WHY IS DONATING IMPORTANT?
DID YOU KNOW?
1 IN 7 CHILDREN FACE HUNGER
That means in an average school class size of 25 there are potentially 4 children that are facing food insecurity in their homes.
HOW FOOD MAKES A DIFFERENCE
In 2018 Warrior House of WNY expanded its mission. We saw a need for food in our community so together with Oakfield Alabama Elementry School we created a School Food pantry.
What's New Since Covid 19
Since Covid 19 we have had to secure an outside location transforming our School Food Pantry to a Community Food Pantry. In June of 2020 we acquired a 6000sq ft building that has sat vacant for over 15 years.
On Veterans Day 2020 we offically opened our pantry to the entire community. The turnout of families was overwhelming. We more than doubled the number of families we had been helping with food insecurities.
Our overall vision for the building is...
-a farmers market which will allow families in our community easier access to fresher foods
- a community room that people in the community can use for personal use or we can hold events to bring the community together
- continue to house our Community Food Pantry and grow a Resource Center
